The material for the quiz is from Chapters 2 and 3 of the NDC text and from lecture topics: Virtual Circuit networks -- basic concepts and properties. Parallel Programming -- the three basic styles (result-oriented approach, agenda-oriented approach, specialist approach). Barrier synchronization and locking. Tuple Spaces -- how they effectively substitute for message-oriented networks, how the primitives (in, inp, rd, rdp, out) can be used in parallel programming. Fault Tolerance -- masking vs nonmasking styles, reactive vs nonreactive programs, transaction-oriented request programming.
